The Medical Council of India (MCI) has given the green signal to the proposal of opening five new departments at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur.
As per the officials, the SMS administration aims to provide better facilities and better treatment to patients. Responsibilities of the new departments will be allocated to different faculties of SMS hospitals. MCI officials will visit SMS for inspection in a week.
The five new departments will be:
Palliative Care – The department will focus on cancer affected patients. Specialized medical and nursing care will be used to provide the patients.
Traumatology Department – The department will focus on multi-organ treatment that is Surgery, Neuro, Ortho, Skin, and others, especially for the accident-related emergencies.
Geriatrics Department – The department will focus on health care of elderly people by preventing, treating diseases and disabilities such as Diabetes, high blood pressure, heart-related problems and others.
Sports Medicine Department – Growing sports trend has increased sports Injury cases among the youth. Due to this, the Sports Medicine Department will be opened by combining orthopedic, surgery and trauma specialty.
Tropical Medicine Department – The Tropical medicine department will focus on the patients affected by seasonal and infectious diseases like swine flu from the check-up to treatment.
