Couples can now tie the knot in Palace on Wheels

Now couples will be able to get married on the luxury train, Palace on Wheels, they will also get the facility of pre and post-wedding shoots.

The Tourism Department has taken a new initiative to promote destination weddings in Rajasthan. Now the luxury train Palace on Wheels of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) can be used for destination weddings. The bride and groom will also be able to get pre and post-wedding shoots done at the Palace on Wheels.

According to Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari, “Making Palace on Wheels available for destination weddings is a big decision. This will give a huge boost to destination weddings in Rajasthan. Also, it will attract foreign tourists towards Rajasthani art and culture and Vedic marital customs.”

Palace on Wheels is one of the most beautiful and luxurious trains in the world. Couples having a destination wedding at Palace on Wheels will be able to make the most important moments of their life memorable.

Rajasthan an important place as wedding destinations

The department is working to develop basic facilities at tourist places. Due to this, more foreign tourists are turning towards the state. Besides, the number of domestic tourists has also increased. Rajasthan has 75 percent of the country’s heritage properties. This is the reason why Rajasthan is becoming the first choice in the wedding destination area across the country.

There are forts, palaces, havelis in many other districts of the state including Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur where gradually destinations are attracting domestic and foreign tourists for weddings. Destination weddings are being organized at more than 120 forts, palaces and mansions of Rajasthan. From this, it can be estimated how good Rajasthan is for destination weddings. Many well-known personalities of the country have also chosen Rajasthan for their wedding. Bollywood and Hollywood stars also prefer it.

Train running in private hands after 41 years

Palace on Wheels has been handed over to private hands for the first time in its 41-year history. Crew Construction Company has been handed over the reins of the Palace on Wheels. For this, a contract has been signed between IRCTC and the company. The company has given its responsibility to Pradeep Bohra who recently retired from RTDC, after which the company appointed him as a director.

At present Rs 7 crore has been spent for the new look of this train. The private company signed an agreement with RTDC for Rs 5 crore every year to run the Palace on Wheels. Along with this, RTDC will also get 18 percent of the total turnover. 

Rajasthan has received awards in wedding

Year 2019- Best Wedding Destination Award from Travel & Leisures.

Year 2020- Rajasthan Best India Wedding Destination Award from Outlook Traveller. Best Wedding and Honeymoon Destination Award to Rajasthan from Travel and Leisure (India and South Asia).
