Travel in roadways buses will remain free on 31st August

Keeping in view the auspicious time of tying the Rakhi, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced that free travel in roadways buses on Rakhi has now been continued till next day. Now women will be able to travel free on 30 August as well as 31 August. 

It is the Raksha Bandhan festival in the state today. The astrologers have determined the auspicious time for tying Rakhi to be after 9 pm tonight. For this reason, many women are going to far-flung areas to celebrate Rakhi festival. They will have to return home the very next day. With this announcement, now apart from today, women will be able to travel free in the ordinary and express buses of roadways across the border of Rajasthan till 11.59 pm tomorrow night. 

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has taken this decision keeping in mind the nighttime auspicious time for Rakhi. He expressed on social media, “Our sisters, daughters and mothers will travel today as well as tomorrow. Keeping this in mind, on the festival of Rakshabandhan, on 30th August and 31st August, girls and women will be given the facility of free travel within the entire state in all categories of buses of Rajasthan Roadways.”

Along with the trend on social media, there was discussion among the common people that this time women will not be able to take full advantage of the free travel on roadways. They may have to pay a one-way fare. This announcement came as a big relief for women traveling across the state during these two days. 

Every year in Rajasthan, women are given the facility of free travel within the limits of Rajasthan in ordinary and express buses of roadways. Along with Rakhi, there is a facility of free travel in roadways buses also on the day of Bhaidooj as well.
