The Rajasthan State Roadways luxury buses can now be hired for tours, wedding tourism, study, and religious tours. The impoverished Rajasthan State Roadways Corporation (RSRTC) decided to rent out its luxury buses on Friday.
According to the officials of RSRTC, they took this decision following the private bus companies who already offer their buses for rent. The express service buses of RSRTC were already available on rent. Now, people will get to hire luxury buses, including Volvo and Mercedes, for a wedding function and other purposes. This initiative will help in boosting their income.
The prices for hiring buses would be comparatively cheaper to what private tour operators are charging from the customers, added the officials.
As per a senior officer of RSRTC “We will charge Rs 15,000 for six hours, Rs 25,000 for 12 hours, Rs 35,000 for 24 hours and Rs 40 per km. Also, the toll tax, insurance amount and GST would be paid by our customer.”
For the first time, the RSRTC will be giving the
Luxury buses to private people for various tours. “We will also contact with various schools across the city and state if they want to conduct any educational tours and will update them on our rates. Likewise, we are hopeful to get better bookings as the marriage season is on till January,” said a senior officer of RSRTC.
When asked to Sudhir Bhati, manager of public relations, if this initiative will affect its regular services, he said, “We already have 10% reserved quota of buses and these would be utilized for this purpose to ensure the regular services of these buses to Delhi, Agra, Udaipur, and Ajmer is not affected.”
The RSRTC is facing an aggregate loss of around Rs 46,000 crore.
