HSRP on vehicles in Rajasthan

Rajasthan government to develop new portal for high security number plates

Rajasthan's government is creating a new portal to speed up high security registration plate installations on vehicles across the state.

The Rajasthan government is building its own website to handle high-security registration plate (HSRP) installations on vehicles across Rajasthan. This is because the current process, using the SIAM portal, has caused delays in in installing new registration plates.

According to a senior official, “The new portal is being developed as per the instructions of the transport minister so residents can get high security registration plates installed faster. Through the SIAM portal, residents are getting late appointments.”

The transport department extended the deadline for installing HSRP on vehicles in Rajasthan to Aug 10. This is the second time the date has been extended by the transport department. As per the initial order, vehicle owners were advised to install HSRPs by June 30. This was then extended to July 31 and finally to Aug 10.

Not having an HSRP on a four-wheeler will result in a fine of ₹5,000 the first time and ₹10,000 after that. For two-wheelers, the fine is ₹2,000 the first time and ₹5,000 after that if the registration plates are not installed on time.

According to the data of the transport department, over 29 lakh vehicles, registered before April 1, 2019, in Rajasthan have still not applied for HSRP.

Old vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, are needed to change their registration plates to the HSRP. The vehicles bought between 2009 and Apr 2019 will have to get these number plates installed.
