Preparations are being made to crack down on people who collect ration fraudulently in the state. Along with this, changes are being made in ration distribution. If e-KYC is not done in the food security scheme, the beneficiaries will not get ration from November 1 and their name will be removed from the list of the food security scheme
To get the cheap ration, e-KYC has to be done by October 31. Here, it is being claimed that after this system, the number of people taking ration fraudulently will reduce by more than 10 lakhs.
4.36 crore people are getting wheat
The wheat quota in the state is fixed for 4 crore 46 lakh units. In this quota, 4 crore 36 lakh 13 thousand 461 members of 1 crore 7 lakh 35 thousand 652 families are taking wheat. Ration distribution to these families starts between 3rd and 4th of every month
How long will the ration be available without e-KYC?
After the order of the Supreme Court, e-KYC was done for the beneficiaries across the state till August 15. In September, ration is being given without e-KYC. Next month, ration will be available only after getting e-KYC done. The option of getting e-KYC done will be open from October 1 to October 31. From November 1, ration will not be given to those without e-KYC and their names will be removed from the eligibility list. The beneficiary will have to follow the process from the beginning to get added again.
What needs to be done for e-KYC?
For this the beneficiary will have to go to any ration shop and complete the thumb impression process. This will send all the information related to the beneficiary to the department. No money will be charged for this.
The needy will be added in place of those who have not done e-KYC. Currently, many people who have high income are not getting e-KYC done. A large number of people will be left out due to e-KYC. By forming a committee of Sarpanch, school principal and dignitaries in the villages, the names of the deprived people will be added to the food security scheme.
Who will be left out of the scheme?
Now the names of income tax payers and four wheeler owners will be excluded from food security. For this, a letter has been written to the income tax and transport department and a list has been sought. Tractors and commercial vehicles have been exempted from four wheelers and the names of their owners will not be excluded.
86 lakh people have not done e-KYC yet
Currently, there is a list of 4.46 crore beneficiaries in the food security scheme. Out of these, e-KYC of 3.60 crore beneficiaries has been done so far. That means e-KYC of about 86 lakh people has not been done. There is a ceiling of 4.46 crore people in the food security scheme in the state, more than this number of people cannot be beneficiaries in the scheme.
What is NFSA?
Under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the government provides free food grains (wheat) to BPL, APL, street vendors and some other categories. Every person associated with it is given 5 kg of wheat per month. This Act was implemented in 2013 during the then UPA government, the main objective of which was to guarantee food security to every poor person in the country.
