In a significant move aimed at empowering women and promoting gender equality, the Rajasthan government has announced an increase in financial assistance under the Lado Protsahan Yojana. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma made this announcement during the Women’s Day celebrations in March 2025, marking a progressive step towards supporting the education and well-being of girl children in the state.

Under the revamped scheme, the financial aid for newborn girls has been increased from ₹1 lakh to ₹1.5 lakh. This amount will be disbursed in seven installments, starting from the girl’s birth and continuing until she reaches the age of 21. The distribution structure is as follows:

  • ₹5,000 at birth.
  • ₹5,000 upon completing one year and receiving vaccinations.
  • ₹10,000 upon school admission.
  • ₹15,000 upon admission to Class 6.
  • ₹20,000 upon admission to Class 10.
  • ₹25,000 upon admission to Class 12.
  • ₹70,000 upon graduation and reaching 21 years of age.

The scheme operates through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring transparency and efficiency. Beneficiaries are automatically registered based on data from government medical institutions or accredited private hospitals under the Janani Suraksha Yojana. Girls previously registered under the Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana, which was replaced by the Lado Protsahan Yojana in December 2024, are also eligible for the enhanced benefits.

The Directorate of Women Empowerment, under the Women and Child Development Department, will oversee the implementation of this scheme. So far, 1.77 lakh daughters have received the first installment, reflecting the government’s commitment to fostering a brighter future for girls in Rajasthan.

This initiative not only aims to encourage the birth of girl children but also ensures their access to education and financial independence, contributing to the broader goal of women’s empowerment in the state.
