Jaipur to get India's 2nd largest cricket stadium named after Anil Agarwal after an MOU signed between the RCA and Hindustan Zinc Ltd.

World’s 2nd largest cricket stadium is going to come up in Jaipur as an MoU is signed between Rajasthan Cricket Association and Vedanta’s Hindustan Zinc (HZL) on Rajasthan Diwas to build world’s third-largest and India’s second- largest cricket stadium in Jaipur. The stadium will be named the “Anil Agarwal International Cricket Stadium”

Vedanta’s HZL signed an MoU with the Rajasthan Cricket Association for the development of India’s 2nd largest cricket stadium and the world’s third-largest cricket stadium in the village of Chomp in Jaipur. Currently Narendra Modi Stadium, Melbourne Cricket Ground and Eden Gardens are the top three largest stadiums respectively.

During the MOU signing ceremony, along with the players of the Rajasthan Cricket Association, the players of the Rajasthan Royals team were also present. Dignitaries attending the event included Dr. C.P. Joshi (Chairman, Raj. Vis & Chief Patron RCA), Vaibhav Gehlot (Chairman, RCA), Priya Agarwal Haber (Chairperson, Hindustan Zinc Ltd. & Director Vedanta Ltd.), Arun Mishra (CEO, Hindustan Zinc Ltd.), and Ritu Jhingon (Director Group Communication, Vedanta Ltd.).

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jai Shah virtually laid the foundation stone of the cricket stadium to be built at Chomp located in Jaipur-Delhi bypass.

World’s third largest stadium with 75 thousand people capacity

Once the MoU is executed, the stadium will be christened ‘Anil Agarwal International Cricket Stadium, Jaipur.’ Located on a 100-acre plot along Delhi Road in Jaipur, the stadium boasts a seating capacity of 75,000. 

It is being built in two phases. The first phase, currently under construction, will accommodate 40,000 spectators at a cost of Rs 400 crore. Hindustan Zinc Limited will contribute Rs 300 crore, while the remaining Rs 100 crore will be provided by RCA. A space for 35 thousand spectators will be developed in the second phase. The cost of the entire stadium is Rs 650 crore.

Built with features that meet International standards

In addition to its impressive seating capacity, the Anil Agarwal International Cricket Stadium will feature 11 cricket pitches, two practice grounds, a cricket academy, hostel, parking, sports club, hotel, and gym. International coaches will give training. Along with this, the stadium will have state-of-the-art dressing rooms as well as jacuzzi and steam bath facilities for the players. Sensor-enabled doors with smart lighting will be installed in the VIP boxes of the stadium. The office of the Rajasthan Cricket Association will also be built here. 

Named after Anil Agarwal, management with RCA

The stadium will be named after Anil Agarwal. However, its full management will remain with RCA. An MoU was signed between Hindustan Zinc and RCA on Thursday. It was signed by RCA Secretary Bhavani Shankar Samota and Hindustan Zinc CEO Arun Mishra.

The foundation of this Cricket Stadium was laid on February 5 last year. So far 25% work has been done. More than 300 laborers including engineers from the construction company of Chhattisgarh are engaged in this. The basic structure will be ready this year. It will take 5 years for the stadium to be fully ready.
