The prestigious Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) is all geared up to mark its presence in the Maldives with a remarkable launching of the newest branch JLF Soneva Fushi.
This art and literature fest is set to debut in May 2022 in the Maldives at a luxury resort Soneva Fushi situated within the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It will be a 10-day event that will extend up to two weekends from May 13 to 22, 2022.
Besides its yearly high-profile event in Jaipur, JLF has ventured across the globe, including in London, Belfast, New York, Colorado, Houston, Adelaide, Toronto and Doha.
Event to reflect with a slow life theme
The event will cluster a list of interesting things that will relate to a variety of themes like travel, fiction, food, art, wellness, climate change and environment. The programme will entail panel discussions, workshops, music, poetry readings and film screenings. It will echo the themes of slow life, amassing an array of morning yoga sessions, amusing workshops, delectable cuisines from across the world.
Many internationally famed authors and thinkers will participate in this event. The line-up of authors participating at the inaugural event include Call Me by Your Name writer Andre Aciman; The Silk Roads: A New History of the World author Peter Frankopan; politician, former international civil servant and author, Shashi Tharoor; Socialite Evening’s novelist Shobhaa De; as well as festival co-directors and authors William Dalrymple and Namita Gokhale.
Visitors at JLF Soneva Fushi will have extensive access to the resort’s experiences, including diving, glass blowing classes, snorkelling with manta rays, and dining in a tree pod.
JLF emits values of hope, power and vitality through literature and knowledge. It also awaits to strengthen the spirit of the community. Through its global events, the festival strives to take the South Asian multilingual literary heritage across the world. It blends the tones of the host nation with the multiplicity of the South Asian schemes and assembles a lively group of book lovers, thought leaders and influencers.
