Travelers to and from Jaipur will face significantly higher airport fees starting August 1st. The government regulatory body, the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA), has increased the passenger fee by more than double and introduced a new charge for arriving passengers.
There was no UDF on domestic arrivals so far, but now Rs 345 will be charged per passenger. The UDF on domestic departure is Rs 394 per passenger which will be 805 from August 1. While the UDF on international arrivals will be Rs 420 per passenger.
The increased airport fees are justified by the planned ₹6,000 crore investment to improve the airport’s facilities by 2027. The development proposal was submitted by the Jaipur International Airport Ltd (JIAL).
The AERA issued an order on Friday to revise the UDF for domestic and international passengers at Jaipur airport for 2024-25, 2025-26, and 2026-27. The revised fee for the current fiscal year will be applicable from August 1.
These are the hiked fee
The change in fee will be applicable to both domestic and international flights at terminals 1 and 2. At present, only terminal 2 is operational, and terminal 1 is scheduled to be commissioned in Oct.
According to the AERA order, the UDF on domestic arrivals will now be Rs 345 per passenger. The UDF per departing passenger for domestic travel will be Rs 805 from August 1 this year to March 31, 2025. This will be Rs 875 per passenger in 2025-26 and Rs 980 in 2026-27.
At the same time, the UDF per passenger departing for international travel will be 980 from August 1 this year to March 31, 2025, and it will be Rs 1,260 per passenger in 2025-26 and Rs 1,400 in 2026-27.
Tariffs are revised every five years
As per an official, “Revision of tariff takes place every five years at all the airports across the country but delay in case of Jaipur by two years was due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The revision takes place on the basis of development plans, which involve huge costs.”
