Following the tragic waterlogging incident in a Delhi coaching center’s basement, which claimed the lives of 3 students, Jaipur police conducted safety checks on institutes of Jaipur and found 69 institutes failing the safety standards. 38 institutes were sealed and notices were issued to 31 others.
On Wednesday the Jaipur police announced results of its inspection of 538 coaching institutes and libraries within the commissionerate area. Of these, 69 institutes did not meet safety standards, for which 38 institutes were sealed and notices issued to 31 others. The checking campaign is being monitored by Additional Commissioner Kunwar Rashtradeep.
According to the Additional commissioner of police (law and order) Kunwar Rashtradeep, “We are conducting investigations at the police station level and we encourage students and parents to report any negligence they encounter. The process of checking safety standards at coaching institutes and libraries would continue for the next two to three days.”
Under this checking process, the local police team goes to the spot and does photo-videography. After that, they ask for documents from the operators and check them. Wherever irregularities are found, they are being served notices and sealed.
To ease the reporting of issues, Jaipur police have appointed multiple channels.

Police commissioner Biju George Joseph has also instructed all SHOs in the city to inspect coaching centers and libraries in their respective areas and prepare a report within two days.
If any illegal operations are discovered, the relevant department will be notified for action and all these institutions will be placed under police surveillance. He asked the beat constables to check all coaching centers and libraries in their areas and compile a complete list of all institutions.
