Toran Gate is a unique heritage building in Jaipur situated at airport road near Jawahar Circle. This gate welcomes tourists coming to the pink city with its white marble and heritage-style gate that represents not only Jaipur but Rajasthan. That’s why it is called the “Gateway of Rajasthan.”
What is special about the Toran Dwar?
This grand gateway serves as a symbol of heritage and culture in the Pink City. The ‘Toran’ holds a special meaning in Rajasthan. In wedding traditions, the groom and his family and other guests travel to the bride’s home. A symbolic gesture involves the groom touching the ‘Toran’ (a decorative door hanging), before entering the bride’s house. This act signifies the formal beginning of the wedding ceremony.

The Rajasthan government has built this beautiful Toran Gate to welcome tourists that are coming from Jaipur airport. This gate is visible from 1 KM away when arriving from Jaipur Airport.
Who designed the Toran Dwar?
The beautiful Toran Dwar is designed by the famous architect and urban planner Anoop Bartariya & constructed by Jaipur Development Authority. He also designed several places and buildings in Jaipur including Peacock Garden, Patrika Gate, Amar Jawan Jyoti, and Arjun Statue. The famous mall of Jaipur “World Trade Park” is also designed and owned by Mr. Anoop Bartariya. The construction of Toran Gate took around 2 years of planning and hard work.
Interesting details of the Toran Dwar
- Toran Dwar is 104 meters wide and 11 meters high
- It can be called a five-story structure.
- The structure of the gate is made from 42 meherab (semi circular door) and each meherab is standing on 4 marble pillars
- It has a total of 216 marble pillars.
- It has 4 marble centophas 2 on each side to enhance its look and give it a royal and heritage look.
- It has 2 Barahdari (A pavilion with twelve doors) one on each side.
Toran Dwar at night
At night, Toran Gate looks amazing, illuminated by lights. There are numerous small and big lights of white color installed in arches and carvings of the gate. The white marble structure when glows with these adorning lights leaves the visitors awestruck.
A fountain show is organized here every evening at 7 pm. The play of light and shadow on the ornate facades enhances its beauty, making it a photographer’s paradise. Toran Dwar is the new selfie point for the people of Jaipur.

The Sun is not bright and faces the object. This setting delivers the best photos at Toran Gate. You can also visit here in the morning to click memorable pics. However, in the morning you may face the sun behind you causing a flare and color loss on the photos. You will have to adjust your position to click great photos.

Toran Dwar is in front of the airport road on Jawahar Circle. You can take an e-rickshaw, city bus, cab, or taxi to come to Toran Dwar from any corner of Jaipur.
