Rescue camps set up in Jaipur for birds hurt in kite flying

Greater Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has set up a helpline number to report cases of birds getting hurt during kite flying over the next few days. Numerous birds suffer injuries after getting tangled in the kite-flying string.

In view of this, special rescue camps have been arranged at several places throughout Jaipur where the people can bring injured birds for treatment and first aid. The helpline number to report these cases is 0141 274 2181.

The locations of the camps include Triveni Nagar, Raja Park , Jawahar Nagar, Murlipura, Pratap Nagar, Vidyadhar Nagar, Apex Circle, Subhash Chauk, Chandpole Anaj Mandi, Birla Mandir, Bhairav Circle, New Sanganer Road, Lal Kothi and Indira Gandhi Nagar in Jagatpura. 

Greater JMC has also assigned teams to various locations and made the phone numbers of the team leaders available for public so that anyone can reach them for help if they come across any injured birds.

As of now, the preparations for these camps have been made for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Apart from this, many non-government organizations are also ready to rescue birds and have deployed volunteers in the city. 

Kite flying is already banned in Rajasthan for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening. The activity of birds is the most during these hours. However, it is doubtful that people will follow these orders. The ban has been inflicted in adherence with a Rajasthan High Court order.
