In a significant breakthrough, the Madhya Pradesh police have apprehended Firoz Khan, a key suspect in the 2022 Jaipur serial blasts conspiracy. Khan, who had been on the run for three years, was arrested from his sister’s residence in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, during a meticulously planned operation.

Firoz Khan, also known as “Sabzi,” was one of the founding members of the extremist group Al-Sufa. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had declared him one of their most wanted fugitives, offering a reward of ₹5 lakh for his capture. He was reportedly responsible for managing funds for the group, which had plotted to carry out a series of bomb blasts in Jaipur.

The case dates back to March 30, 2022, when Rajasthan police intercepted a suspicious vehicle in Nimbahera, leading to the arrest of three individuals from Ratlam. The vehicle contained explosives, timers, and other bomb-making materials. Subsequent investigations revealed a larger conspiracy involving Al-Sufa members, with plans to execute serial blasts in Jaipur. The NIA took over the case later that year, arresting ten of the eleven accused. Firoz Khan remained the only fugitive until his recent capture.

The arrest operation was led by Ratlam Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Singh, who confirmed that multiple teams were deployed to track Khan’s movements. After two days of surveillance, the police raided his sister’s house in Anand Nagar Colony. Despite resisting arrest, Khan was overpowered and taken into custody.

The NIA is expected to take over Khan’s interrogation to uncover further details about the group’s activities and potential connections to other extremist organizations. This arrest marks a significant step in dismantling the Al-Sufa network and ensuring justice for the thwarted attack.
