Jaipur – In a significant move to streamline the operation of e-rickshaws and curb traffic congestion, Jaipur city has been divided into six zones. This decision was announced by the Transport and Road Safety Minister, Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa, during a session in the state assembly.
The new zoning system aims to address the traffic jams caused by unauthorized vehicles and ensure a smoother flow of traffic. Each zone will have a designated number of e-rickshaws, and specific parking and charging spots will be marked. Additionally, e-rickshaws will be issued zone-specific QR codes to facilitate better regulation and monitoring.
The state government has taken this step to enhance road safety and reduce the chaos caused by the unregulated operation of e-rickshaws. The Transport Department has already registered 45,508 e-rickshaws in Jaipur, and this new system is expected to bring more order to the city’s transportation network.
The implementation of the QR code system is scheduled for January 28, 2025, and the regional transport office is working closely with the Information and Communication Technology Department to ensure a smooth rollout.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve urban mobility and create a more organized and efficient public transportation system in Jaipur.
