With the formation of the BJP government in Rajasthan, the Municipal Corporation administration in Jaipur has also come into active mode. On Sunday, the Animal Management Committee of Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation started a campaign against illegal meat shops in the city. Under this campaign, action was taken against more than 40 illegal meat shops in Jhotwara, Sanganer and Vidyadhar Nagar areas of Jaipur.

During this period, along with seizing a slaughterhouse and a shop, 350 kg of illegal meat was seized and destroyed with phenyl. At the same time, 15 goats and 5 boxes of fish were also seized. As soon as the information about the corporation’s action was received, many shopkeepers closed their shops and went away. The corporation is now preparing to register an FIR against them. 

More than 40 shops inspected, challan issued for violating rules 

Harendra Singh, Deputy Commissioner of the Animal Management Committee of the Municipal Corporation, said – On the instructions of Mayor Soumya Gurjar, surprise action was taken in the Greater Corporation area on Sunday. During this period, more than 40 shops were investigated where meat was being cut and kept for sale contrary to the rules. The corporation’s team has seized illegal slaughter houses, while challans have been issued to shopkeepers who sell meat in disregard of rules despite having a license. This action will continue further, so that illegally operating meat shops can be curbed in the city.

Councilor said – better late than never 

Ganesh Singh Nathawat, councilor of Ward 71 of Municipal Corporation Greater, said that the Municipal Corporation has started action after a long time. This should have started a long time ago, but never mind. Better late than never, this action of the corporation is welcome, because the common people are most troubled by this problem. In such a situation, strictest action should be taken against all the meat shops running without license and in the open. Along with this, the shopkeepers who are wrongly selling meat to people without license. Their shops should also be seized.

Balmukund Acharya had raised the issue 

Earlier on 4th December, Hawamahal MLA Balmukund Acharya had started a campaign against illegal meat shops in the Municipal Corporation Heritage also. He visited the major markets of the walled city and took action to close illegal meat shops. During this time, Balmukund Acharya also had an argument with the shopkeepers at Ramgarh turn. He was trolled a lot on social media regarding this. However, the very next day he also said not to harass the traders working as per the rules.
