With the rising trend of electric vehicles (EVs), the state government has plans to install charging facilities in the under-construction buildings in Jaipur along with other major cities. Around 90 projects are in progress of approval and construction and are in need of EV charging stations.
This initiative has been taken following the government’s decision to make EV charging facilities mandatory in new construction projects. EV charging stations will be set up in the next six months.
According to a government official, “Introducing charging facilities in multi-storey buildings is a significant step towards encouraging more people to shift to electric vehicles, easing the transition to a greener mode of transportation.”
Of the projects, 50% are going to be hosted by Jaipur. The new charging facilities are expected to provide significant relief to EV owners. It will make it suitable for them to charge their vehicles in residential and commercial buildings across the city. For this, builders need to construct charging infrastructure for a minimum 10% total vehicle parking capacity.

- Jagatpura: 5
- Sikar Road: 3
- Gandhi Path West: 4
- Govind Marg: 2
- Shyam Nagar: 2
- Durgapura, Maharani Farm: 3
- Sanganer, Muhana Road: 6
- Patrakar Colony Road: 5
- Indira Gandhi Nagar: 4
- Bhankrota, Shyam Nagar, Ajmer Road: 6
In total, there are currently 125 multi-storey building projects underway, with 1,500 projects being less than 15 meters in height. The approval process in multi-storey buildings now includes both residential and commercial projects.
