Now there will be no need to book a gas cylinder every month or lift the heavy cylinder and climb the stairs. On the lines of Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, now gas will be supplied through pipeline in Jaipur as well. Like electricity and water, the gas will now reach people’s homes in a hi-tech manner.
Torrent Group has started the work of laying a pipeline in many cities of Rajasthan including Jaipur. With the completion of the work and commencement of this facility, PNG will be supplied. However, this facility will start only outside the Municipal Corporation area of Jaipur. Gradually laying the line, it will be covered till the colonies, situated in the Municipal Corporation area of Jaipur.
Now let’s know how much it will charge, how the bill will come, what is the difference between the gas that is available in the pipeline and LPG in the cylinder, and when will this facility start.
How to get the connection?
Connections will be released on the basis of registration forms which will be filled through the firm or nodal agency in that city. People will get the consent form filled. The survey team will reach the houses while laying the pipeline. Its information will be given publicly
What if I already have a cylinder?
There will be no change in connection. Both pipeline supply and cylinder can be used.
How will the bill come?
There is post-paid billing, that is, no advance has to be paid for gas. The bill will come according to the gas meter. Every house will have a meter like electricity and water, according to its reading the bill will come once in two months.
What will be the charges?
It will cost around Rs 6000 for a gas connection, this will include 5500 rupees as a security. If a connection is disconnected, a refund will be issued.
What are the benefits?
PNG is easy to use.
Gas supply lasts for 24 hours.
No worries about running out of gas.
PNG gas is eco-friendly. This results in very low emissions of environmentally harmful gasses like carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2).
What is the difference between LPG and Piped Gas (PNG)?
LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) is filled in the cylinder in the form of water. This gas is heavy. Its cost is more than PNG, CNG
Piped Natural Gas (PNG) is 30% cheaper than LPG. Cylinder is not required. It mainly consists of methane gas.
Less chance of accidents in PNG
According to the information given on Rajasthan State Gas Limited (RSGL), propane gas is used in LPG. Being heavier than air, it settles down and expands which may be terrible in case of fire. Whereas, PNG is used in the pipeline. It contains methane which is lighter than air. It blows up in case of leakage. Due to this the chance of accidents are less.
