A fire broke out in the library of the Secretariat building in Jaipur on Wednesday morning. Furniture in the room was destroyed but there have been no reports of casualties or injuries. The reason for the blaze is said to be a short circuit. Further investigation is ongoing.
The social media team of the state government operates on the fourth floor of the library building which reported the blaze. Soon after information about the blaze was reported in the morning, fire tenders rushed to the scene to douse the fire emanating from the closed office of the social media team in the CMO.
After receiving information about the fire, senior officers and employees of the department also reached the spot and took stock of the situation. The security personnel brought the fire under control.
As per an official, All the electronic devices, furniture, and books were burnt in the fire before it could be brought under control, although there have been no reports of casualties in the incident.
The officials familiar with the incident said that prima facie the fire seems to have been caused by a short circuit. The actual cause of the fire is being investigated.
According to the Rajasthan BJP spokesperson Laxmikant Bharadwaj, the fire was not accidental but it was part of a conspiracy to hide the misdeeds of the Congress government. No reports were lodged to the nearby fire stations. He said the BJP will also take up the matter with the Election Commission.
Assembly elections will be held in Rajasthan on November 25.
