The income tax department held an auction of seized gold, silver items as well as precious and semi-precious stones on Wednesday in Jaipur. Jewelers from Ahmedabad, Surat, Bangalore, and Mumbai, including Rajasthan, arrived in the auction.
In the office of the Income Tax Department in Jaipur on Wednesday, auctioned jewelry worth 4.25 crore rupees. Around 300 jewelers along with the aam aadmi people participated in this auction. Eight years ago, jewelry and precious gems of Rs 4.25 crore seized from two lockers are being auctioned. The auction was started at 11 o’clock in the Income Tax Department office located at Statue Circle. According to the income tax department, 166 items were kept in the auction.
For the first time in the country, the jewelry seized has been auctioned on such a large scale. A team of 75 people is created and strong security arrangements have been made, said officials from the income tax department. This jewelry is being auctioned due to anonymity.
