Now money will be deducted through Fastag at toll booths on state highways originating from differentt cities of Rajasthan. This system will be implemented in the entire state by the end of this year. Along with this, changes have also been made in the toll policy.
In a meeting of Rajasthan State Road Development Corporation (RSRDC) held under the chairmanship of Deputy CM and Public Works Department Minister Diya Kumari, instructions were given to strictly implement the rules of toll policy and Fastag. Also, it has been asked to identify land for developing a facility and cafeteria on the state highway on the lines of the express highway.
Fastag system at 108 booths by Dec 2024
According to RSRDC officials, at present Fastag system has been installed at 86 percent of the booths, but even 50 percent of them are not operational. RSRDC currently has 108 toll booths in Rajasthan, out of which Fastag has been installed on 93.
The system has been developed at these booths, but is not operational. There, money is still being taken by cutting receipts. In such a situation, it has been asked to implement it in the entire state by December 2024. There will be no need to apply separate Fastag for this.
Contracts for more than one year will not be given
Changes have also been made in the toll collection contracts and their conditions in the meeting. It was decided in the board meeting that the contract given for collection will not be given for more than one year. Currently it is given for 2 years. Some have taken extensions of 1 year or more with the connivance of contract officials. Given this, Minister Diya Kumari has now given instructions not to give contracts for more than one year and to give an extension for a maximum of 3 months.
Any contractor can participate in the process
Now the contract for toll collection can be given to any contractor. For this, separate registration which is done in RSRDC will not have to be done. Any contractor will be able to participate in this process. For this, his net worth should be up to 20 percent of the total toll value.
The corporation will also run toll booths on its own. It was also decided in the board meeting that if for some reason a regular contract for toll cannot be made, then toll tax will be collected through man power agency. On toll roads where no contractor comes in the tender, then RSRDC will collect the toll by deploying its own manpower.
