Ranthambore National Park: Guide and tourist fined Rs 51,000 for throwing stones at the tiger

A visitor and a tourist guide both were fined Rs 51,000 for throwing stones at a sleeping tiger in order to make him move at Ranthambore National Park of Sawai Madhopur on Tuesday during the full day Safari.

As per the officials, the visitor, Mritunjay Tiwari wanted to take a closer look at the tiger so the tourists guide identified as Islam Mohammed stepped down from the gypsy and pelted stones at the sleeping tiger.

The thermal imaging cameras placed in the forest premises recorded complete scenario. After watching the CCTV footage, the visitor and the guide were called by the forest department officials and fined with Rs 51,000. The guide has been suspended from his duties until next order, said, officials.

The accused visitor Mritunjay Tiwari is a resident of Patna and came to enjoy full day Safari at Ranthambore on Tuesday and Wednesday. The officials canceled his Wednesday’s safari following his misconduct.
