Another feather added to the cap of Jaipur. India’s second and world’s third-largest cricket stadium to be constructed in Jaipur. There will be a capacity of 75 thousand spectators.
After the Narendra Modi Stadium (Motera) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, now the Rajasthan Cricket Academy (RCA) is going to build a big international cricket stadium in Jaipur. For this stadium, Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has today named 40 hectares of land in the name of RCA, whose lease deed was handed over to RCA President Vaibhav Gehlot on Friday by JDA Commissioner.
The spectator capacity of Motera Stadium built in Ahmedabad is 1 lakh 32 thousand. At the same time, Melbourne Cricket Stadium in Australia has a capacity of one lakh spectators. In such a situation, Motera is the largest cricket stadium in the world. If this stadium is built in Jaipur, then it will become the second-largest stadium in the country and the third-largest in the world.
This land for the stadium has been given in Chomp village on Jaipur-Delhi bypass, about 30 KM away from Jaipur city. RCA is planning to start the process of building a stadium on this land this year. A draft of the stadium’s design has also been prepared by RCA. The stadium and other facilities will be developed with an estimated investment of around Rs 650 crore.
The foundation will likely be laid by September-October. The stadium will be ready in about 2.5 to 3 years. Its formation will take place in two phases. In the first phase, 40 thousand and the second phase 35 thousand spectators capacity will be developed. It will also connect the big cities so that the visitors coming from Kota, Ajmer, Delhi will be able to reach here easily.
According to RCA President Vaibhav Gehlot, “It will be the second-largest stadium in the country and the third-largest in the world. The stadium will be constructed on 100 acres of land with 75,000 spectators capacity. The stadium will be constructed in two phases – the first phase with 40,000 seating capacity will be built with 11 cricket pitches. A cricket academy and two practice grounds will also be built. Along with this, two practice grounds, one cricket academy, a hostel, parking facility, sports club, hotel and gym will also be built as available in international stadiums.”
The infrastructure grant of ₹100 crores for the project will be given by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and another ₹100 crores will be raised from bank loans. While 90 crore will be collected from RCA and others.
