Jaipurites will soon be able to enjoy traffic signal free drive across Jaipur. Jaipur Development Authority has begun work to get rid of the traffic jams at various intersections. Traffic signals will soon become Signal-free.
On Saturday, Ravi Jain, the new commissioner of Jaipur JDA, reached the spot to inspect the projects of Rajasthan’s first signal free road and Civil Lines Railway Over Bridge in Jaipur city. He took detailed information about each project and instructed the officials to accelerate the work and do the quality work. He insisted that all the work could be completed on time so that the public would benefit from these projects.
There are 7 intersections which come under Jaipur Rajasthan’s first signal free road. These are Rambagh Circle, JDA Circle, OTS Circle, Jawahar Circle, B2 Bypass Circle, Laxmi Mandir Tiraha, and Chomu House Circle. The civil lines project is the construction work of the proposed railway over the bridge at the Civil Lines Gate.
These 7 intersections have a lot of traffic pressure and accidents are also quite a lot on these roads. Given this, JDA has issued a tender to an architect firm. The firm will prepare a detailed report on this and give it to JDA. After this these intersections will be made traffic light free.
According to the Project Consultant and architect Anoop Bartaria, “Hundreds of vehicles pass through various intersections daily and a lot of fuel is wasted in this entire exercise. With the ‘Signal-free,’ project, the pollution level of the city will reduce to a substantial level. With the B2 Bypass intersection going ‘Signal-free’ fuel worth Rs 9-10 crore will be saved annually.”
Around 2 lakh vehicles visit Jawahar Circle Jaipur every day. It is proposed to construct 3 sub-ways (10 shops in each subway) for pedestrians and cycling and a monument in front of the airport road. Apart from this, works of electrification along with cycle track, parking and beautification will also be done on the outer periphery of Jawahar Circle. The work is to be finished in 12 months.
B-2 Bypass Junction
B-2 Bypass Junction faces a huge problem of traffic jams during peak hours. Here the work of sub-way, electrification and beautification is proposed along with the construction of an underpass from Jawahar Circle towards Mansarovar and cloverleaf on Tonk Road, Bajri Mandi and Ramdas Agrawal Tirahe. The work is to be finished in 18 months.
Laxmi Mandir Tiraha
Along with beautification, a two-lane underpass and two pedestrian subways are to be built on Tonk road from Sabzi Mandi road to about 400 meters in length. This work is proposed to be finished off in 18 months.
Apart from this, statues of eight freedom fighters including Vallabhbhai Javerbhai Patel, Sarojini Naidu, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, Rajendra Prasad, Subhash Chandra Bose, Abdul Ghaffar Khan would also be installed here. The work will be completed in 8 months.
