Founded in 2016, this Wax museum of Jaipur is the first wax museum in the world to be opened at a heritage site built on par with international standards. It gives you a glimpse of a unique blend of culture and technology. Tourists visiting the wax museum in Jaipur get to witness a number of statues of Indian and Internationally acclaimed prominent personalities. The statues at the museum are beautifully sculpted by India’s maiden senior-most wax sculptor Mr. Susanta Ray. The museum of the Nahargarh fort has two sections: the ‘Hall of Icons’ section and the ‘Royal Darbar’ section.

The Hall of Icons section is the starting point of the Nahargarh wax museum. This wax museum in Jaipur has over 30 life-like wax statues of famous icons who have been forerunners in their respective arenas. After its re-designing, it resembles a charming royal courtroom from the 18th century. This royal section honours the legends by showcasing traditional costumes of royal family members, unique and antique artefacts, decorative paintings, a wonderful royal buggy and life-like interactive statues. Perfectly titled The Royal Darbar, right from the entrance till the end, it is adorned with ecstatic paintings that portray the affluent heritage and culture of the Royal Rajputana.

Its one exhibit has majestic real-life statues of the royal people ‘The Maharajas and The Maharanis of Jaipur and the state of Rajasthan. The major exhibits of this section are Queen Of Jaipur Maharani Gayatri Devi and Sawai Jai Singh II. Another remarkable exhibit is “The Journey of the Jaipur Gemstone”. This showcases the growth of precious souvenirs and jewels through the centuries. The Royal Darbar further splits into 2 galleries that have hand-painted pure gold motifs enlightening the grand history of the Rajputana.

Sheesh Mahal

A one-of-its-kind section of this museum is Sheesh Mahal or the “Palace Of Glass”. One can find the original Sheesh Mahal at the Amer Fort of Jaipur as this Sheesh Mahal is an extension of the Nahargarh Wax Museum. This ultimate gallery of Rajasthan’s heritage has efforts of around 100 craftsmen behind it. With use of more than 2.5 million pieces of glass in different colors such as blue, green, yellow, and red, it looks incredibly marvellous. The Sheesh Mahal has time-honored thikri mirror work, an art that dates back many centuries. The interiors of Sheesh Mahal feature floral motifs, real gold and gem artwork, ornate crystal chandeliers, handmade paintings and other precious trinkets. This Sheesh Mahal is the only Palace of Mirrors in the world that has beautifully designed glass flooring. This hall brings alive the extravagance of the Rajputana era in a unique manner.

How To Reach the Jaipur Wax Museum

This museum is located in the Nahargarh Fort and there are frequent buses to reach here. You can also hire private cabs or taxi services like Uber and OLA to reach here. The nearest railway station is around 6.5 kilometers. The nearest metro station, the Sindhi camp is about 4.5 kilometers. Jaipur international airport is around 14 kilometers.

Jaipur Wax Museum Timings

The Wax Museum is open for visitors between 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. It remains open on all weekdays. The timings may differ during the festival season. You will require approx. 2 hours to visit and explore all the statues in the museum. Avoid visiting the museum in the afternoon during summer. Also, take care of your belongings as they have strict regulations to maintain their restrictions.

Jaipur Wax Museum Entry Fees 

You can either buy a single ticket to visit the Wax Museum or you can go for a combo ticket to visit both Wax Museum and Sheesh Mahal. 

Indians: Rs. 350 per person for visiting only Wax Museum.

Indians: Rs. 500 per person for visiting both Wax Museum and Sheesh Mahal

Foreigners: Rs. 700 per person for both Wax Museum and Sheesh Mahal

Do they allow photography at Jaipur Wax Museum

Visitors are not allowed to carry their own cameras. If someone wants to get their pictures clicked, there are photographers available to hire inside the museum. The charges of photography are Rs. 200 per person for 8 pictures
