Cylinders will be available in Rajasthan for Rs 450 from the new year

CM Bhajan Lal announced to give LPG cylinders to Ujjwala families for Rs 450, 70 lakh Ujjwala-BPL connection holders will get the benefit.

There is good news for Ujjwala and BPL gas connection holders in Rajasthan. Bhajan Lal government will provide LPG cylinders to these connection holders for Rs 450 from January 1. There are 70 lakh Ujjwala and BPL connection holders in Rajasthan. Of these, about 66 lakh are from Ujjwala, while 4 lakh are BPL connection holders.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced this in Tonk on Wednesday. The Chief Minister attended the camp of Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra in Tonk on Wednesday. The Bhajan Lal government has now changed the name of Indira Gandhi Gas Cylinder Subsidy Scheme to LPG Cylinder Subsidy Scheme. 

To avail the benefits of the scheme, the consumer will have to register for it in the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra Camp. Before this, the Food and Supply Department made a proposal and sent it to the Chief Minister. Before the assembly elections, BJP had included it in its manifesto, which was later included by the government in its 100 day manifesto. 

Earlier, the government of former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had started giving cylinders to these connection holders for Rs 500, which came into effect from April 1, but now the Bhajan Lal government is going to make this cylinder cheaper by Rs 50. It will start from January 1st.

The state government will bear the subsidy amount 

CM Bhajan Lal today reached Malpura in Tonk assembly constituency to inspect the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra Camp. CM said, “Under the guarantee of PM Narendra Modi, women of BPL and Ujjwala Yojana families will be given subsidy on LPG cylinders from 1st of the New Year. Beneficiary women will get a gas cylinder for Rs 450. The state government will bear the subsidy amount under this scheme. This subsidy will be transferred directly to the accounts of the beneficiary women.”

Additional burden will be Rs 52 crore 

After this decision of the government, there will be an additional burden of Rs 52 crore every month on the state’s financial fund. At present, oil and gas companies are providing 14.2 kg LPG cylinder for Rs 906. A subsidy of Rs 300 is given to Ujjwala connection holders by the Central Government. 

30 lakh refills every month

After giving a subsidy of Rs 300 to Ujjwala connection holders by the Central Government, the State Government will have to give a separate subsidy of Rs 156. At present, 30 lakh cylinders are being refilled every month by these connection holders in the state.
