More than 2000 Mahatma Gandhi English medium schools running in Rajasthan are being converted into Hindi medium schools. Under this, the Education Department has sought from the officials at the district level the current condition of the English medium school, the number of teachers, the number of students as well as the recommendation to start it again in Hindi medium. Based on this, the education department will again convert the English medium school into Hindi medium.
According to the Education Minister, Madan Dilawar, “The need for Mahatma Gandhi English Medium School in Rajasthan is being reviewed at the government level. Only after this will schools run or be closed. There will be some decision regarding this. Along with reviewing at the government level, we will also see whether Mahatma Gandhi English Medium School is in accordance with the new education policy of the Central Government or not. The final decision will be taken on this basis.”
Education Department issued a letter for review
In fact, the previous government of Rajasthan had developed about 2070 government schools in the state by converting them into English medium. These schools were named Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools. Students from poor families were studying in these schools after completing the prescribed admission process. However, after the change of government in the state, the education department has now intensified its efforts to change it.
Recently, the Education Minister decided to review the Mahatma Gandhi English Medium School being run in the state. After this, the Education Department has now sought a complete report from all divisional and sub-division levels regarding the operation of Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools. Whereas English medium schools have been running in these schools for a long time.
