Strict rules will be made to save water in Rajasthan

News

The situation of groundwater in Rajasthan is worsening every day. Due to this, there may be a water crisis in the state in the future. The Ground Water Department will take concrete steps and strict decisions will be taken to save groundwater.

According to the recent Dynamic Ground Water Resource Report of the Central Ground Water Board and Ground Water Department of Rajasthan, the situation has worsened so much that groundwater in four big districts of Rajasthan including Jaipur may be exhausted by 2025. After this report, the groundwater department has come into active mode.

To prevent a water crisis, the Rajasthan government has started preparing to bring the Ground Water Regulation Act. Not only will tough decisions be taken in this Act, but preparations are also being made to ban private industries and domestic borewell digging in Rajasthan.

Ground Water Department officials have started working on the draft of the Ground Water Regulation Act. Under the Act, digital water meters will be installed in the industries running in the state. That means industries will get water only according to their capacity. New industries will have to give NOC for water on the condition of water recharge.

The groundwater board will be formed

After the implementation of the Act, the Ground Water Board will be formed. In this, with Ground Water Department, Water Supply Department, Panchayati Raj, and UDH will be included.

The geographical condition of every district of Rajasthan is different. Therefore, committees will be formed at the district level to make rules to conserve future water according to the districts. Discussions are being held on banning the digging of tube wells by private industries as well as the government.

The central government has made an act

At present, the guidelines of the Central Ground Water Board under the Ground Water Regulation Act of the Central Government are also applicable in Rajasthan. Under this, there is no ban on the digging of tube wells by private and industrial companies.

No water in these cities till 2025

In the Dynamic Ground Water Resource Report of Central Ground Water Board and Ground Water Department of Rajasthan, the availability of water in Jaipur, Ajmer, Jaisalmer, and Jodhpur by 2025 has been assessed as zero. Along with this, the current situation in these districts is also not good.

According to officials of the Ground Water Department, the way water is being used and exploited is wasteful. Due to this, there is a strong possibility of a water crisis increasing further in the coming days. Due to this, the situation can prove to be quite frightening for the people of the state.
