The 2005 model vehicles (commercial vehicles) will not be able to run on the roads in Jaipur from the new year. However, the old vehicles can get NOC to drive outside the Jaipur city limits. There are around 1.72 lakh such vehicles running in Jaipur.
After the orders issued by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Regional Transport Office (RTO) of Jaipur has issued orders of restriction on commercial vehicles.
According to an RTO official, all commercial vehicles of the 2005 model will be prohibited from running in Jaipur urban limits. If a person is caught driving this model vehicle, a fine of Rs 5000 will be charged.
The NGT has already banned the operation of these vehicles of the old model in the urban limits of all divisional headquarters districts since 2005. But the orders will now be mandatory and come into effect. Under this, the vehicles of the 2005 model will now be considered illegal to operate in Jaipur city from January 1, 2021.
The official said that owners of such vehicles can take NOC for their vehicles from Jaipur Transport Office till 31 December, so that they can operate vehicles outside other small cities or urban limits of Jaipur. Once they get the NOC, the drivers will be able to register their vehicles for operation in other districts.
