Today, tourists are given free entry into all the museums of the state including Jaipur. Domestic and foreign guests are being welcomed in Rajasthani tradition. Special programs and performances by folk artists have been organized at major tourist places on the occasion of International World Museum Day.
There is free entry in Jaipur’s Amer Mahal, Hawa Mahal, Albert Hall, Jantar Mantar, Nahargarh Fort. With this, tourists will be welcomed from the morning itself. ‘Crusaders for Culture’ special program will be organized at Albert Hall Museum. Information about the Yantras of Jantar Mantar will be given by astrologers in Jantar Mantar and sky show will be done at 7 pm.
Special exhibition in Amer Palace
Today, on the occasion of International Museum Day, Amer Palace has completely free entry for tourists. Tourists can visit the palace for free from 8 am to 7 pm. During this time, the palace administration traditionally welcomes tourists by applying tilak and greeting them with garland.
Along with this, the Archeology and Museum Department and Weaver Service Center Jaipur have organized an exhibition in Amer Palace. In this, bags, pots, folders, chandeliers, furniture like chairs, tables, beds, other products made of jute, bamboo, ramie, optical fiber, recycled plastic are being displayed. The objective of this exhibition is to promote handloom products. This exhibition will remain open for tourists from 10 am to 6:30 pm till May 24.
Folk artists performing at Hawa Mahal
Today on the occasion of Museum Day, rangoli has been made for the tourists at the entry. Along with this, tourists are being welcomed by applying tilak. Today folk artists are presenting folk songs here. Apart from this, there will be a special presentation of Kachhi-Ghodi dance for the tourists. During this period, tourists will be made aware about the cleanliness and safety of the heritage.
Sky show at Jantar Mantar
Tourists will be given free entry in Jantar Mantar from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. During this time, information about the instruments of Jantar Mantar will be given by astrologers at 11 am in the morning while a sky show will be held at 7 pm.
Different programs in Albert Hall
‘Crusaders for Culture’ special program will be organized at Albert Hall Museum, Jaipur. This event will be organized in collaboration with the Department of Archeology and Museums, Department of Art and Culture, Drona Foundation and Jaipur Heritage Foundation. In this, along with the performance of Rajasthani folk artists, the importance of tourism will be explained. Albert Hall tourists can visit for free from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Free entry in Nahargarh till 5 pm
Tourists will also be given free entry in Nahargarh Palace today. During this time, folk artists will give a performance in Nahargarh and wish the tourists on International Museum Day. Tourists can enter Nahargarh Fort for free from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
International Museum Day started in 1977
The International Council of Museums first started celebrating Museum Day in 1977. Its basic objective was to increase awareness of culture and history. After this, the United Nations passed a resolution on this subject in 1983. Since then, International Museum Day has been celebrated every year on 18th May.
According to the decision of the International Council of Museums in 1992, this celebration started with a theme every year. This year’s theme is Museums for Education and Research.
