What is Mumps: It is a viral disease caused by Paramyxovirus of the Rubella virus family. The parotid glands on both sides of the face become swollen, causing saliva to be produced. Due to swelling, hearing also becomes impaired. It infects other organs along with the salivary gland.
How it spreads: The virus spreads in the air when infected people cough or sneeze. By coming in contact with them, this infectious disease spreads to others also. Even a healthy person can become sick due to direct contact with infected people like water bottles and other things.
