Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur was shaken by a major earthquake on Friday in the early hours of morning. Three back-to-back tremors were felt here between 4.09 am to 4.25 am. At present, there is no news of any damage due to the earthquake.
According to the National Center for Seismology, there have been three tremors. The earthquake’s first tremor occurred at 4:09, whose intensity on the Richter scale was 4.4. The second aftershock occurred at 4:22 with a magnitude of 3.1 and the third aftershock occurred at 4:25 with a magnitude of 3.4.
Local people said that they felt earthquake tremors one after the other. An explosion-like sound was heard. People came out of their houses and apartments at 4 in the morning due to fear. After the earthquake, there was a power failure in many areas.
Residents got scared and rushed out of their home
The residents of Shipra Path in the Mansarovar area said that there was a loud sound of buildings shaking. It felt like the ship was going down. Though tremors have been felt in Jaipur before, such a strong earthquake was felt for the first time.
The people sitting in the park got scared due to three tremors and went and sat in the nearby parks and open fields. On the other hand, some people kept waiting for the situation to become normal by putting a chair on the road.
Expert claims that earthquakes will keep coming
Jaipur comes in Zone-2 and Western Rajasthan Zone-3. There are tremors of normal earthquakes. According to geographer Dr. Rajendra Singh Rathore, there is a fault line (rift) in the east of the Aravalli range. This fault line passes through the eastern coast of Rajasthan till Dharamshala. This includes Jaipur, Ajmer, and Bharatpur areas of Rajasthan.
Experts say that the Aravalli range’s rift has become active, and the movement has started in the cracks in the Aravalli mountain. Now the tremors of such earthquakes will keep coming in Jaipur and other adjoining areas as well.
