Corona News Update Health

On World Heart Day, the well-known cardiologists of Jaipur talk about the increased rate of heart problems among Covid patients. They made people aware of the risk and the things one should take care of.

As per the cardiologists, Covid patients should be more careful about their heart health even if they have recovered. Research has shown that patients who recovered from Covid are more at risk of having heart problems. In many states in India including Rajasthan, problems like thickening and clotting of blood are coming to the fore in corona patients after recovery. After Covid, there has been a rapid increase in such cases in 30 to 40 age groups.

According to Dr. Anil Sharma, Professor and Unit Head of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at SMS Hospital, “More cases of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), Ventricular Tachycardia (VT) and clot formation have been reported in post covid patients in Rajasthan. The cases of VT are mostly coming out in the youth.”

“DVT is a condition when a blood clot is formed in the arteries present in the legs. In this, a person may feel swelling in the feet, thighs, ankles leading to heart attacks. Apart from this, in VT, people face problems like chest pain, fainting, dizziness, shortness of breath, vomiting, nervousness and they do not get a chance to reach the hospital,” he added.

So, it is the need of an hour to recognize such symptoms timely and get the necessary treatment. People should take care of precautionary measures to keep their heart health in check.

  • People should do regular exercise
  • Do walk at least 3-4 kilometres daily if possible.
  • Take part in sports activities like cycling, cricket, playing badminton, football etc.
  • Take special care of your diet. Take less oil and consume fresh fruits as much as possible
  • Stop smoking and drinking. Be careful if you use alcohol excessively.

Heart problems are less common in those who do regular exercise or sports activities. This is because, with more and more movement of the body, the heart works faster and the pumping speed is good.
