Now, overspeeding cars won’t be able to escape easily on Jaipur highways; challans to be delivered on mobile, high-tech interceptor vehicles will be deployed to capture the registration number of the vehicles.
Overspeeding and other driving violations on highways in and around Jaipur will now face fines by Jaipur traffic police. The traffic policemen will not block any vehicle on the highway instead the traffic challans will be delivered on the mobile of the violator after high-tech interceptor vehicles capture the registration number of the vehicle violating rules.
According to a police officer, “Currently, the traffic policemen have to stop overspeeding cars by stepping in front of them or signaling them to stop in most cases. It’s dangerous and risky for the policemen as well as the vehicle passengers.”
Now, the traffic policemen will not have to try to stop the vehicles on the spot. The high-tech interceptors will capture the registration plates and then deliver the challan to the vehicle owner on his or her mobile phone.
“This will not only decrease the risk but also increase obedience as the traffic violators on the highways near Jaipur would be detected on camera. Earlier, the overspeeding vehicles used to escape easily if the traffic policemen failed to stop them,” said the officer.
Four Hitech interceptors to districts of Jaipur police
Four districts of Jaipur Police will get one hi-tech interceptor each. Lately, CM Ashok Gehlot flagged off 25 such hi-tech Night Hawk interceptors in the city. Currently, the overspeeding challans are being done on JLN Road, Tonk Road, Vaishali Nagar and Sanganer.
15-day limit to pay the challan
If any vehicle is overspeeding, the camera installed on these interceptors will generate an online challan and send it to the violator’s mobile. The violator will be given 15 days to pay the fine. He or she has to be physically present at the concerned office of the traffic police. If this does not happen, the case will be presented before a court from which the challan will be generated.
