Now every 3rd Saturday of the month will be celebrated as ‘No bag day’ across all the schools of Rajasthan. On this day mandatory chess learning sessions will be organized in the schools.

India has long been known for bragging to some of the most youthful and the most notable chess masters across the world. With an aim to strengthen the proficiency among the schoolgoers of the state, the Rajasthan government will now begin compulsory chess learning sessions on every 3rd Saturday of the month and will be termed as the ‘No bag day’.

The ‘Chess in School’ initiative

The initiative will start on November 19 in all the schools in Rajasthan, including Jaipur as well as other districts. The initiative was flagged off this Thursday by the Rajasthan state education minister during an inaugural function held in Bikaner.

Moreover, it is anticipated that this effort will not just lend an opportunity for the proficient students in showcasing their skills in the game but will also be beneficial for other students as chess is believed to be helpful for the improvement of several mental facets comprising visual memory, attention span, and spatial-reasoning power.
