News

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for severe cold in many parts of Rajasthan witnessing a continuous drop in the temperature in the districts near the border. The effect of winters will increase in the state after December 5.

The direct effect of snowfall in Kashmir and Himachal is being seen in Rajasthan. For the last two days, the minimum temperature recorded in the areas of Mount Abu and Shekhawati is between 1.8 and 5 degrees Celsius. Due to this, snow has started freezing on the trees and plants in Mount Abu.

The mercury in Mount Abu remained consistently 2 degrees and below 2 degrees. While the minimum temperature in Kota, Churu along with Bikaner was recorded below 10 degrees. The department has issued an alert for the increasing effect of winter after December 5 in parts of North India including Rajasthan.

The reason for the continuous increasing cold is the Western Disturbance of a light effect, which will be active in the next 2 days in Kashmir. Due to this, there will be light snowfall and rain which may increase cold air in parts of North India. The strong cold winds from North India will blow towards the plains, due to which there will be a slight drop in the minimum temperature in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.
