Rajasthan tops the nation in Smart city mission in online ranking

Rajasthan has got first place in the country in the online ranking under the Smart City Mission. On Thursday, the central government released the ranking of 36 states and union territories under the mission.

In the list released by the center, Udaipur is ranked 5th, Kota 10th, Ajmer 22nd and Jaipur 28th in the ranking of 100 cities in the country. Earlier Rajasthan was in second place. Due to effective monitoring of smart mission works, Rajasthan has secured the first position. Even during the period of Covid-19, the pace of development works was maintained.

The center had set certain criteria for ranking. The basis of ranking was mainly the implementation of Smart City Mission works, time-bound execution of the project, the financial progress of the work in progress, utilization of the funds received and providing utilization certificates to the center from time to time.

In the Smart City plan, new public utility works were included along with the construction work following the public’s expectations and according to the guidelines of the Smart City. The workers employed in the Smart City project were provided free food through the Indira Kitchen in Corona period, given Sanitizer, masks, etc., so that the full migration of workers could be stopped. From time to time, personal monitoring was done by the Minister of Autonomous Government Dhariwal regarding the availability of workers and fulfilling their needs.

On getting the first position of Rajasthan, Shanti Dhariwal congratulated the officers and employees associated with the project and instructions were given to maintain the pace of work continuously. Dhariwal informed that Rajasthan has secured the first position by getting more marks than Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat while performing the work through proper monitoring of smart mission works. 

Talking about the work progress of Jaipur, then the work of Gangauri hospital will start soon. The IPD block is to be constructed for 400 crores in SMS hospital, Rs. 125 crores will be contributed by the Smart City. Construction of a digital museum in Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, purchase of necessary smart equipment for solid waste management, restoration and repair work of Maharaja’s library, temples and schools, Ram Niwas Bagh parking, heritage walk-way are being done. Along with this, the development of sports facilities at Chaugan stadium and multi-storey parking facilities are being developed at various places.
