Rajasthan to get 4 new medical colleges from next academic session

Good news for medical students as Rajasthan will start 4 new medical colleges from the next academic session with 100 seats in each college.

With an aim to make medical education more accessible, Rajasthan is soon to get started with 4 new medical colleges. The state government is going to start the admission process for the new medical colleges opening from the next academic session. 

In a meeting organised by Rajasthan Medical Education Society on Thursday, the medical education minister Raghu Sharma directed the officials to complete all the necessary actions required for these medical colleges and ensure that four new medical colleges in Sriganganagar, Chittorgarh, Sirohi and Dholpur will start from new academic sessions. Each college will have 100-100 seats

The state has got the approval of 16 medical colleges by the Centre. The construction work in four of them has already been started and the target is to start them from the upcoming academic session. Sharma also reviewed the other 12 medical colleges and directed the officials to speed up their construction work and complete it in the next 15 months.

Of the 12 medical colleges, the work of 6 medical colleges in Dausa, Hanumangarh, Banswara, Nagaur, Tonk and Karauli will begin in October. The construction work for the rest of the medical colleges in Jaisalmer, Sawai Madhopur, Alwar, Baran, Bundi and Jhunjhunu is yet to begin. Moreover, the already existing medical colleges in Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Barmer and Sikar will be enhanced.

Instructions have been issued to the companies to work in two and if needed in three shifts to give pace to the construction work. Also, directions have been given to regularly monitor the progress of the work of the companies doing the construction work every month by giving them monthly targets. For ensuring quality work, the health department will constitute a team of experts. 

Medical Education Secretary Vaibhav Galaria, Commissioner Medical Education Shivangi Swarnkar, Principal and other officers of the concerned Medical College were present in the meeting.
