The state Medical and Health Department has initiated ‘Mansamvad’ – a toll-free helpline service for providing counselling to students coming from Ukraine and other war-torn countries. The students struggling with mental and emotional issues can consult experts on the toll-free number – 1800 1800 018.

According to the Medical and health minister Parsadi Lal Meena, “Most of the students studying in Ukraine returned home due to the Russo-Ukraine war. They had observed the war tragedy very closely which has harmed their mental health.”

Adding to this, he further said “For such students, the state government has started ‘Mansamvad’, a toll-free helpline service to provide them counselling. I am hopeful that this service would prove to be very effective in the development of emotional and mental health of these students.”

The health department learnt that Ukraine-returned students have spent days amid shelling and bombing in Ukraine where they have gone for medical studies. After they were rescued and brought back to Rajasthan they were having complaints of anxiety, restlessness, flashbacks, nightmares, uncontrollable thoughts about the war. Due to this, students require counselling for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The helpline will operate from 9 am to 5 pm on all working days. Through this, anyone can take help and the subject experts are providing counselling and other information on mental and emotional issues. Also, free medical treatment and counselling are being provided by the doctors for mental health care at several district hospitals under the District Mental Health Program.
