Rajasthan government will reopen schools and colleges from September 1

Schools in Rajasthan will reopen for students from 9 to 12 from September 1. Colleges and coaching centers will also open; Offline classes will start with 50% students.

As the effect of Covid infection is decreasing, efforts have intensified to bring the educational system back on track. Under which preparations are being made by the state government to open schools and colleges after September 1. 

Schools, colleges and coaching centers will be able to operate with 50% capacity from class 9th to 12th. The classes for 9 to 12 will operate on alternate days following the Covid protocols. Classes from 1 to 8 will continue online as before.

The five-member committee formed by the government submitted its report to chief minister Ashok Gehlot for reopening the schools on Tuesday. The report stating that schools for higher classes to reopen in September, got approval by CM. 

The committee, considering experts’ view, recommended the reopening of schools from September 1. By then we will have a better idea of the chances of the third wave. The report includes the projected dates, standard operating procedures and views of experts.

The Home Department guidelines to reopen schools

According to the guidelines issued by the state government, there will be a ban on overcrowded mass gatherings and prayer meetings. For this, the school management will have to upload the information about the seating capacity of the school and the vaccination of the staff through the online web portal.

Study will start only after vaccination

The taxi, bus and auto drivers of school, colleges and coaching centers are required to apply the first dose of the vaccine. While in the coaching center, the staff of academic and non-academic classes are required to apply both doses of the vaccine.

Online studies will also continue

Online classes will continue even after the reopening of schools. Under this, students who do not want to come to school will be able to study online by staying at home. Along with this, students who want to go to school will have to hand over written permission from their parents. 

Classes will remain closed for 10 days if anyone is found infected

If any student, teacher or school staff is found infected, the class will remain closed for 10 days. Along with this, school management will make arrangements to take them to the nearest hospital for treatment in case the health of the student staff deteriorates. For this, nodal officers will be appointed by the state government in each district to ensure that the corona protocol is followed.

The State Government had previously agreed on to reopening schools from August 2, 2021. However, the decision was ruled out after the order issued by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Following this, a five-member committee was formed to decide the dates to reopen schools in the state. 

The committee discussed various factors concerned with reopening such as projection of Covid cases, the chances of a third wave, preparedness of schools, transport system and contingency plans in case of an outbreak. Also, a study of the SOPs of states that have already reopened schools was done. Expert advice related to Covid was provided by the principal of SMS Hospital. 

Colleges will reopen after the completion of the final year examinations of UG and PG.
