Police uniforms and vehicles to be equipped with cameras

News

The traffic police administration has decided to equip police uniforms and vehicles patrolling national highways in Rajasthan with cameras.

According to the officials, the cameras will be attached to the dashboard of the police vehicles and on the front of the uniforms. This will help police control room officials to keep a tab on national highways through the cameras. This step will also curb corruption among policemen patrolling the highways.
According to ADG traffic Pankaj Kumar Singh, a budget of Rs 1.65 has been allocated for this purpose.

The traffic police officers will have to keep their cameras turned on when they are on duty. In case of an accident, the camera on the vehicle and uniform will record the incident. If any police vehicle found absent from duty, the camera will record it. If the camera is turned off, an explanation will be sought from them, added Singh.
