The cases are increasing on the trend of the second wave and children may be the most infected. Given this, the announcement of vaccination for children has come as a big relief.

The announcement came hours after the Drug Controller General of India (DCGA) approved the emergency use authorization of Covaxin of Bharat Biotech for children. With this permission, Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin comes to be the second vaccine to receive a EUA for the 12-18 age group after the Zycov-D Covid-19 vaccine by Zydus Cadila Company.

Three Doses of Vaccine will be applied

If the Zycov-D vaccine is applied, then three doses of this vaccine will be given to the children. Each dose will contain a dosage of 0.1ML. This vaccine will be given from Pharma Jet Machine (Needle-Free Injector), which does not have a syringe. Besides, if Bharat Biotech’s vaccine is applied, then its dose will be 0.5ml and two shots will be given. This vaccine will be administered with a normal syringe, as used in the ongoing vaccination.

The Prime Minister also announced that India will soon launch a nasal Covid-19 vaccine and DNA vaccine. He urged people not to panic and adhere to precautions in the stage of the emergence of the highly infectious Omicron variant.
