The investigation report of a suspected case of coronavirus patients admitted to the isolation ward of SMS has been received by the Pune-based National Institute of Virology. The reports were a big sigh of relief after the patient tested negative for the disease. 18 passengers from China were also tested and are healthy.
According to the information, the youth, resident of Jaipur, was studying a medical degree in China. He returned to Jaipur from China on 12 January. He developed the symptoms of cold and fever and was admitted to the SMS on Sunday, assuming the case of the virus. He was kept in isolation ward.
Additional Chief Secretary of Rajasthan, Medical and Health, Rohit Kumar Singh, gave detailed information about various activities related to awareness of common people, including prevention, control, investigation and treatment of coronavirus in the state through video conferencing at the Government Secretariat on Wednesday. Several medical officers were also present during the video conference.
The treatment of the medico student was done under the supervision of doctors and a sample was sent to the National Institute of Virology Lab in Pune that came negative. The health department informed in a video conference that they have decided to recheck the patient for coronavirus tests taking it as a precautionary measure.
Similarly, a list of 18 people traveled Jaipur from China, was sent to the state government were screened and tested negative. Besides, instructions have also been given for regular screening and testing of all passengers and their families for a prescribed 28 days.
Since coronavirus is dangerous, the medical and health department of the Rajasthan government is on high alert and is keeping a check on people coming to Jaipur from China. For this, a surveillance committee of five doctors and five nursing staff has been deployed at Jaipur International Airport. Notices have been put up at the Jaipur airport requesting people coming to Jaipur from China to report to the committee if they develop any symptoms of the virus.
A senior medical and health department official said that “We request these people to come forward immediately if they show symptoms of the virus including, fever, cough or respiratory distress. They will be screened immediately.”
Rohit Kumar Singh informed that adequate arrangements have been made for prevention, control, treatment, investigation, and propagation of Coronavirus in the state.
Personal Protective Equipment Kit and N95 Mask are available in adequate quantity for health workers. He has instructed the concerned officials to purchase additional PPE kits. The self-declaration form is being filled up from the passengers. The temperature of the passengers is being measured with a digital thermometer, he said.
