State Cancer Institute to open on RUHS premises in Jaipur

A ‘State Cancer Institute’ will soon be opened on the premises of Rajasthan University of Health and Sciences (RUHS) in Pratap Nagar. Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital administration will oversee the project.

According to the officials, the capacity of the institute is 60 beds and the project cost is Rs 120 crore. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot inaugurated Shriram Cancer-Super Specialty Center on March 5.

The institute will offer advanced technological amenities and treatments to cancer patients at minimal prices. The institute includes sections of Radiotherapy, medical oncology, surgical oncology, nuclear medicine, pathology, and Radiodiagnosis. Other technological advancements include Linear escalator, CT stimulator, six modulator operation theatre, X-Ray, Sonography, Mammography and Elastography along with others, added officials.

Also, a new project at the SMS hospital is being developed. The construction work is going on. Multi Super Specialty Wing will soon open at the SMS hospital with a capacity of 211 beds. The treatments and tests of patients under Nephrology, urology, and gastro will be conducted under one roof at newly developed Super Specialty wing at SMS Hospital, said Dr. Sudhir Bhandari, Principal of SMS Medical College.

Also, the construction work of ‘State Cancer Institute’ at RUHS is complete. It will soon be functional, added Bhandari.
