After being closed for nearly nine months due to lockdown schools, colleges, coaching centres and other educational institutions in Jaipur will reopen from January 18. The state government released the statement on Tuesday.

Since Covid-19 vaccination is about to begin, the direction has been issued to open classes from 9 to 12 in schools, final-year classes in universities and colleges, coaching centres and government training institutes from January. Along with this, paramedical institutions including medical colleges, nursing colleges, dental colleges have also been informed to open from January 11.

It has been decided that all the institutions will be allowed to have 50% attendance on the first day and the remaining 50% on the second day. For this, the health department will provide the necessary training to the teachers on precautionary measures to be taken.

The decision was confirmed after a review meeting chaired by Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of the state. Gehlot asked all institutions to follow all the Covid guidelines and health protocols issued by the centre. These include social distancing, wearing masks and proper sanitation.

He said that the recent situation of Covid in the state is very much under control and the recovery rate has risen. The positive cases have become zero in many of the districts and the situation is better in others as well.

Talking about the new strain of coronavirus, Gehlot said that it is a matter of concern that the cases of new forms of Covid-19 are exposed. The dreadful situation has emerged in Britain due to the new strain of coronavirus and lockdown was imposed again. Learning from this, we should take special precautions.

He instructed that necessary suggestions should be sent to the Central Government soon from the state regarding the new strain. In a view to handle this situation, he said that any kind of negligence towards it can create a big crisis. Special attention should be kept on travellers coming to the state from other countries, including those affected by the virus. Covid screening and intensive screening of these passengers should be done.
