On the lines of Delhi, Rajasthan has also started a cash reward scheme under which, people who take a road accident victim to the hospital will get ₹5,000. Delhi launched this scheme in May 2018.
Many people are injured in road accidents in Rajasthan every day. People hesitate to come forward to help the injured. Everyone waits for the police and government ambulance. Due to this, the injured also lose their lives due to not getting timely treatment.
Given such a situation, the Rajasthan government has started Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Jeevan Rakshak Yojna to encourage people to take road accident victims to the hospital and the victims reach the hospital in golden hour and get treatment.
Under this scheme, the government will honour the people who take the injured to the hospital at the earliest with ₹5,000 and a certificate. The police will not be able to interrogate the person helping the injured person. A casualty medical officer of the hospital in the emergency room will deal with the person who has brought an injured person to the hospital and note down the person’s details. Also, no money will be taken from the person helping for the treatment of the injured person in the hospital. Reward money will be given to the person who brings him in critical condition.
A senior official of the finance department said the scheme will be undertaken through the health department and expenditure of the scheme will be carried by the road safety fund. The scheme will apply to both private and government hospitals.
The reward amount will be given only in the case when the condition of the person injured is critical. The one who helps a person with a common injury will be awarded a certificate only. Government ambulance, private ambulance staff, PCR van and police personnel on duty and the relatives of the injured person will not be given reward money under this scheme.
Information to be given to CMO
If the person helping the injured person is willing to take the reward amount under this scheme, then he will have to give his complete information to the Casualty Medical Officer (CMO) posted in the hospital. The person has to provide his name, address, mobile number and bank account number. It will be decided on the report of the CMO whether the person was seriously injured or whether he needed immediate treatment? The CMO will prepare the report and the reward will be given based on this report.
