Newly formed Jaipur heritage municipal corporation now housed in Walled city area

The headquarters for the newly constituted heritage Jaipur municipal corporation will now be found in Walled city. The old PHQ (police headquarters) building will inherit the new municipal corporation headquarters. The state government issued a notification on Wednesday regarding this matter.

The Rajasthan government divided the existing Jaipur municipal corporation wards between the two civic bodies for Jaipur city. The existing building will be turned into the greater Jaipur Municipal Corporation.

The greater Jaipur Municipal corporation will have 150 wards and the newly formed Jaipur heritage municipal corporation will have a total of 100 wards.

According to a senior official, “The building which previously housed old PHQ is lying vacant. It will now house the Heritage Jaipur Municipal Corporation.

The wards were reserved on the basis of drawing a lottery. Of the 100 wards in heritage Jaipur municipal corporation, 65 wards will be reserved for the general category and 21 will be for women. For SC category 11 wards were reserved and four will be reserved for women candidates. The ST candidates will have three wards reserved for them and one will be reserved for a woman candidate. While there will be a total of 17 wards reserved for OBC category and six of them will be reserved for women candidates.

Of the 150 wards in Greater Jaipur Municipal Corporation, 91 wards will be reserved for the general category and 30 of them will be reserved for women. Twenty wards will be reserved for SC and 7 of them will be for women. Of the 7 wards reserved for ST, two will be for women candidates. Of the 30 OBC wards, 11 will be for women candidates.

After constituting the new corporations, the state government annulled all previous notifications regarding the municipal corporation.
