Violators have to think twice before breaking the traffic rules. The New Motor Vehicle Amendment Bill 2019 will impose stricter penalties for violating the traffic rules and dangerous driving habits.
According to the Motor Vehicles Bill, people will now have to pay Rs. 500 instead of Rs. 100 as a fine for offending the traffic rules. Driving while texting, lane-changing, driving while being drunk or ignoring an ambulance can lead to strict penalties. Traffic fines have shot up high and violators have to pay a heavy cost.
The Motor Vehicle Amendment Bill 2019 has been passed in the Parliament. The Rajya Sabha has cleared amend the provisions under the 1988 Motor Vehicles Act on Wednesday. This new Motor Vehicle Amendment Bill 2019 has revised a list of traffic rule penalties.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill will instill the fear of law in people who violate traffic rules. The offenses will be monitored by a traffic intelligent system. This will promote road safety. Also, the process of making a driver’s license would be computerized and a person has to pass the online tests to get their license.
