The Commissionerate of Police, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department, started a campaign from Tuesday to make Jaipur a beggar-free city. Four teams of 16 policemen have been appointed to remove the beggars from the city.
After the survey of 3000 thousand beggars in the city, the campaign started from Tuesday to make Jaipur city a ‘beggar-free city. The campaign started from Badi Chaupad, Rambagh Square, Gopalpura Pulia, a 200 feet bypass.
Under this campaign, Four teams of four police inspectors and 16 constables have been formed to rescue persons involved in begging at various intersections, religious and tourist places, railway stations, bus stands, Community Building, Thadi Market and public places of the city.
Two centres have been identified by the Social Welfare Department to send the beggars. Beggars from various intersections will be sent to the Government Ambedkar Hostel and Sarthak Manav Sewa Leprosy Ashram. After counselling, they will further be sent to the state old age home, Mahila Sadan and handicapped center.
Also, efforts will be made to identify the beggars who want to do employment. They will be included in the mainstream of society by getting them trained. Police teams will be appointed at both the centers by the Jaipur Police Commissionerate so that no beggars can run away from there.
