The state government has announced the results of Swachh Survekshan 2020 on Thursday. Jaipur bagged 28th place in all India Swachhata Survekshan ranking 2020.

This year, in cities with a population above 10 lakh, 3 big and 8 small cities of Rajasthan have secured the rank in the Cleanliness Survey 2020. Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota secured 28th, 29th and 44th position respectively. Jodhpur also got the title of the ‘Fastest Moving Big City’. Last year, Jodhpur was at 243rd position and Kota at 302.

The capital Jaipur jumped 16 ranks and has now risen to 28th rank from 44th rank in 2019.

According to the survey released by the union ministry of housing and urban development, the rank of Jaipur has improved in the cleanliness survey. Last year, Jaipur got 44th place in the Swachh Survekshan. Within a year the city has jumped 16 positions which is the best rank till date.

Indore got the first position in cleanliness. Indore has been ranked first for the fourth consecutive time. Surat of Gujarat has been ranked second, Navi Mumbai got the third position in terms of cleanliness in the country.

The municipal corporation Jaipur Heritage commissioner, Lok Bandhu said, “The rank of the Jaipur city improved in the cleanliness survey. It is all because of participation of public and efficient work done by the officials, sanitary staff and the commissioners.”

Speaking about the improvement needed in the city, municipal corporation Jaipur greater commissioner, Dinesh Yadav said, “The city has improved for sure. We need better sewage treatments with improvement in the the the door to door garbage collection and proper disposal of trash.”

“Although self-satisfaction is more important than the higher rank. People should be satisfied in the matter of cleanliness,” he added.

The ranking has been given on the basis of 6000 points. Out of 6,000 points, Jaipur got 3660.39 in Swachh Survekshan 2020 ranking. The survey includes 4 components each of 1,500 points. Of these, minimum 500 marks have come in the preparation of Municipal Corporation.

The survey has been conducted on 9 parameters which include transportation, picking up garbage from homes, processing of waste and execution; contaminated water purified, then used; reduction in the dirt, re-use, emphasis on recycling; reduction of solid pollutants; improve the social status of waste pickers; promote purchases from gem; taking steps for cleanliness in the cities near the Ganges river and the monitoring technology.
